Roxanne
American Badger | Other Mammals | Taxidea taxus
Arrived 2022
Roxanne was only a few days old when her mother was killed in a livestock conflict which is common across the West. The rancher later discovered Roxanne alone in her den. She was taken to Montana Wild, where trained rehabilitators worked tirelessly to save her life. Roxanne was hand-raised and carefully nurtured through her fragile first weeks. Roxanne could not be released back into the wild. At six weeks old, she found her permanent home at YWS, and lives in a safe, enriching habitat and serves as an ambassador for her species. Roxanne’s story reminds us of the complex balance between people and wildlife in the West and the vital role sanctuaries play in giving non-releasable animals a second chance.
*Symbolic Adoption: No ownership rights are conferred by this adoption. All animals stay at the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary and remain under the care of our animal keepers team.
